Support Drowning Prevention with the Lifesaving Society
The Lifesaving Society is a national charitable organization with a humanitarian mandate to prevent drowning and water-related injury. Monetary donations go towards providing and improving programs and services throughout Alberta and the Northwest Territories. This is everything from developing our Online Academy to increase training opportunities, to Water Smart® initiatives such as Lifejacket Loaner Station programs, and creating public education resources.

Testimonials - How Your Donation Helps!
Our organization had the privilege of hosting a Water Safety presentation facilitated by the Life Saving Society, and the experience was invaluable. Their team shared practical, straightforward information on water safety that resonated with our members and equipped them with essential skills and preventive strategies. The presenter’s expertise and engaging approach made the content easy to understand, and the session sparked meaningful conversations within our group on enhancing water safety awareness in the dayhome setting. We are grateful for the Life Saving Society’s commitment to this important mission and highly recommend their sessions to others looking to improve water safety practices in their communities.

We reached out to the Lifesaving Society Alberta and Northwest Territories requesting they provide a presentation to an Employee Resource Group for Parents. As we operate all over Canada, we needed the presentation in both English and French which Madison at the LSS assisted in connecting us with a team member from the Quebec branch to assist in facilitation. Madison at the AB/N.W.T branch met with me to go over goals for the presentation which included drowning facts & figures, Water Safety tips, available programming, and Q&A. Together the Alberta/N.W.T and Quebec branches delivered two separate and engaging presentations that offered participants opportunities to provide their own experiences, ask questions and learn about how to keep their family safe near water, not just at pools but open water and at home too. We received positive feedback from everyone in attendance on the value of the content presented, formatting, additional resources provided and the host(s) ability to answer questions. I would highly recommend having the Lifesaving Society provide a presentation to your group, the content is applicable to all ages and learner types, the flexibility in the content presented and commitment of the organization to their vision of a Canada free of drowning and water related injury is inspiring.

Living in a community with a river flowing through it, many people enjoy kayaking and floating during the summer. Every year, families borrow life jackets on weekends to stay water safety conscious without financial barriers. Thanks to generously donated life jackets, we can encourage safe habits around the water, ensuring that finances are never a reason for compromising safety. Together, we create a safer, more connected community.
