Out of Province Athlete Eligibility
Athletes from outside Alberta and the Northwest Territories are welcome to attend and participate in our meets as well! To register an out-of-province athlete for a meet, please use the following process:
1. Good Standing. Our branch of the Society requires confirmation that all athletes are in good standing with their home branch. Ask your branch representative to contact Sport@Lifesaving.org and confirm that the athlete or athletes you wish to register are in good standing.
2. Sign the Waiver. Each athlete (or their guardian, if they are considered a minor under their home province's laws) will need to sign the ABNWT Lifesaving Sport Waiver.
3. Athlete Concussion Education. Ensure that each athlete you wish to register (or their guardians) have read the Concussion Guide for Athletes, and the Concussion Guide for Parents and Caregivers.
4. Coach Concussion Education. Confirm that you have read and will abide by the policies outlined in the following resources:
- ABNWT Lifesaving Sport Concussion Policy
- Concussion Guide for Athletes
- Concussion Guide for Coaches and Trainers
- Concussion Guide for Parents and Caregivers
Once the above requirements have been met, you can reach out to the meet manager and register for the meet. The meet manager will inform you how you can submit entries, as well as how to coordinate payment for meet fees.
To get a copy of the registration package and safety plan, go to sport.lifesaving.org/competitions and find the meet you wish to send your athletes to, then click on "Download Meet Documents."
Out-of-province athletes will compete alongside ABNWT athletes, but please know that their results will not be displayed on our Sport website. Their coach and home branch will instead be sent a pdf copy of the results with official times.
