Two Weeks Left to Complete Your First Aid Mandatory Update
Just a reminder to our First Aid Instructors and Trainers: there are only two weeks left to complete your 2024 Mandatory Update!
In case you need a refresher on the details, we highly recommend you read our previous communiques about the update, if you haven't already done so:
- First Aid Mandatory Update - Timeline (distributed April 9)
- Lifesaving First Aid Update Rolls Out Today! (distributed May 27)
- One Month Since First Aid Mandatory Update Launch (distributed June 24)
- First Aid Mandatory Update: Two Month Check-In (distributed July 29)
How Do I Complete the Update?
The 2024 Mandatory Update is available to complete on our Online Academy, with a registration fee of $20. Registration includes access to the online course materials, as well as* an updated First Aid Manual and Workplace First Aid Award Guide.
*These printed resources will only be available for free until September 1, 2024. After this date, the cost of these materials will be added to the registration fee.
Please know: to take this course, you must have an existing First Aid Instructor certificate or have completed a First Aid Instructor course prior to May 27, 2024.
What Happens If I Don't Complete the Update?
If you are a Lifesaving First Aid Instructor or Trainer, and you have not completed the Mandatory Update by September 1, 2024:
You Will Not Be Able to Teach Lifesaving First Aid Courses.
As of September 1, 2024, all Lifesaving First Aid programs must be taught by an Instructor or Trainer who has completed the Mandatory Update.
It Will Become More Expensive to Complete the Update
As explained above, the initial registration fee for the update included the Workplace First Aid Manual and the First Aid Award Guide at no additional cost. However, after September 1, the cost of the Manual ($12) and the Award Guide ($10.50) will be added to the registration fee.
Previous Materials Will Be Retired and Inaccessible
By September 1, the older Leadership and Candidate resources will both be retired, and all Lifesaving First Aid courses are now required to be delivered using the updated resources. Additionally, older materials can no longer be exchanged for new ones.
