Financial Updates Coming September 2023
Before summer draws to a close, we wanted to remind our affiliates of some changes coming to a couple of our First Aid programs this September.
Aquatic Emergency Care
Beginning September 1st, a $10 certification fee will be required to run the Lifesaving Society's Aquatic Emergency Care (AEC) program.
As of October 2022, the AEC certification and recertification courses are no longer considered workplace approved first aid programs by the Government of Alberta.
The AEC courses have been combined into a standalone AEC module, with a Government of Alberta workplace approved Intermediate* First Aid as a pre-requisite. New test sheets have also been created for this module, and are available here.
For more information on this change, please review our October 26 communique, our October 25 AEC Memorandum, and page 49 of our Policies and Procedures manual.
*Please note that on the above communique and memorandum, the prerequisite is listed as "Standard First Aid." The name has since been changed to "Intermediate First Aid."
Rebate Freeze
As stated in our Spring 2023 edition of Ripples, our First Aid Rebate Program will be put on hold starting September 1st. We are working on a full review of our programs and services so that we can be as fiscally responsible as possible. We'll be contacting our affiliates for stakeholder input later this fall.
We thank you for your understanding regarding these upcoming changes. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know via Experts@LifeSaving.org or (780) 415-1755.
