This October, the Lifesaving Society ABNWT will be holding a Safety Symposium in Jasper, where attendees have the opportunity to get trained in up to 5 different courses, including our new-and-improved safety courses!
Since January 2025, our new Safety Management Committee has been hard at work reviewing and updating the content of our safety management courses. By attending the symposium, you'll be able to access the updated course content before anyone else!

To recertify, participants must hold the applicable certification, and have completed any relevant mandatory updates.
This course trains participants in the supervision and mentorship of deck and front-line staff. Content includes safe facility operation, communication strategies, risk management, and more.
Now with no required prerequisites, this course is perfect professional development training for any new or up-and-coming aquatic leaders!

Intended for managers and directors with aquatic oversight in their portfolio but little to no direct experience, this course trains participants to better understand the aquatics industry specifically relating to risk management, legislation, and practices for operating an aquatic facility in Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

A big change is coming to our SEE Auditor program: in order to effectively cover specific aspects of the audit process, we've decided to split the course into two separate streams. At the symposium, you can be the first to experience the new version of the SEE Auditor program!
As a bonus, these versions of the courses do not require Aquatic Supervisor Training as a prerequisite!
SEE Auditor: Pool & Waterpark Lifeguard
This stream is designed to prepare candidates to conduct SEE audits on lifeguards at swimming pools and waterparkss. Participants will gain the skills to provide tools/suggestions to supervisors and managers to support the development of lifeguards.
