National Lifesaving Sport Awards are Back!

After a hiatus from 2020 - 2022, the National Sport Commission of the Lifesaving Society of Canada is pleased to announce the return of the annual National Lifesaving Sport Awards!

These awards recognize the performances of Lifesaving Sport athletes as well as the contributions of volunteers, officials, coaches, and clubs.

The winning athletes will be chosen by the Selection Committee, while members of the Lifesaving Society will have the opportunity to submit nominations for all other categories.

All winners will be announced during the 2024 Canadian Pool Lifesaving Championships on June 7 - 9, 2024.

The following awards will be presented:

Male Athlete of the Year

Awarded to a male athlete who has achieved outstanding performances primarily nationally and internationally, in the pool and/or on the beach/surf.

For this award, the winner will be chosen by the Selection Committee, rather than through nominations.

Female Athlete of the Year

Awarded to a female athlete who has achieved outstanding performances primarily nationally and internationally, in the pool and/or on the beach/surf.

For this award, the winner will be chosen by the Selection Committee, rather than through nominations.

15 to 18 Years Old Male Athlete of the Year

Awarded to a male athlete 15 to 18 years of age who has achieved outstanding performances primarily nationally and internationally, in the pool and/or on the beach/surf.

For this award, the winner will be chosen by the Selection Committee, rather than through nominations.

15 to 18 Years Old Female Athlete of the Year

Awarded to a female athlete 15 to 18 years of age who has achieved outstanding performances primarily nationally and internationally, in the pool and/or on the beach/surf.

For this award, the winner will be chosen by the Selection Committee, rather than through nominations.

Master Male Athlete of the Year

Awarded to a male athlete 30 years of age or older who has achieved outstanding performances primarily nationally or internationally, in the pool and/or on the beach/surf specifically in the Masters category unless an event had no such category.

For this award, the winner will be chosen by the Selection Committee, rather than through nominations.

Master Female Athlete of the Year

Awarded a female athlete 30 years of age or older who has achieved outstanding performances primarily nationally or internationally, in the pool and/or on the beach/surf specifically in the Masters category unless an event had no such category.

For this award, the winner will be chosen by the Selection Committee, rather than through nominations.

Performance of the Year

Awarded to the individual (or team) that has provided the best performance in a specific event with priority given to performances that have offered Canada international visibility.

For this award, the winner will be chosen by the Selection Committee, rather than through nominations.

Club of the Year

Awarded to a club that has contributed to the development of Lifesaving Sport in Canada through participation, leadership, and performances of its members provincially, nationally, and/or internationally.

For this award, nominations are sought from members and branches of the Lifesaving Society.

Official of the Year

Awarded to an official who has contributed to the development of Lifesaving Sport in Canada through his/her leadership and involvement provincially, nationally, and/or internationally.

For this award, nominations are sought from members and branches of the Lifesaving Society.

Coach of the Year

Awarded to a coach who has contributed to the development of Lifesaving Sport in Canada through his/her leadership and involvement provincially, nationally, and/or internationally.

For this award, nominations are sought from members and branches of the Lifesaving Society.

Sport Volunteer of the Year (NEW)

Awarded to a volunteer who has contributed to the development of Lifesaving Sport in Canada through his/her leadership and involvement provincially, nationally, and/or internationally.

For this award, nominations are sought from members and branches of the Lifesaving Society.

 

For awards that seek nominations (club, coach, volunteer, and official), any member of the Lifesaving Society may submit a nomination through this Google Form. Nominations must be submitted by April 15, 2024.

We invite our members and affiliates to take this opportunity to nominate our outstanding Lifesaving Sport clubs, coaches, officials, and volunteers from Alberta and the Northwest Territories!
