Policies & Procedures contains information about the Lifesaving Society and its training programs. It is designed to provide Society members with pertinent information regarding the maintenance of their awards and the delivery of Society programs and services.

Section 1 describes the Lifesaving Society and illustrates the Society’s history, dating back to 19th century England, and long-standing provincial, national and international  activities working towards preventing drowning and water-related incidents. The valuable partnerships maintained by the Society will be acknowledged.

Section 2 outlines the Society’s general policies and our expectations of and commitment to our members. It contains information and rationale on our leadership philosophy as well as policies concerning program delivery and lifesaving sport.

Section 3 provides program policies, recommended delivery guidelines, required materials, and administrative requirements for each Lifesaving Society training program.  Affiliates are encouraged to use the program descriptions provided in this section for their program guides.

Section 4 provides information on the Society’s safety management services. Services include inspections, audits and reviews of facility policies, procedures, or the facility itself. Safety management services can be booked through the Lifesaving Society office.

Section 5 provides program policies, recommended delivery guidelines, required materials, and administrative requirements for each Lifesaving Society leadership program.  Affiliates are encouraged to use the program descriptions provided in this section for their program guides.

Policies & Procedures is updated annually. It is provided to our Affiliate Members through a direct mail out and digitally in the Members Only Area. Leadership Volunteers receive a copy in all leadership course packages.
